When I attempt to open a .zip file multiple IE windows continue to open (every couple of seconds or so) until I "force" my computer to shut down. No matter how many I close they keep coming up. This happens when using WinZip and WinRar. This really bugs me because I cannot utilize the downloaded .zip files and I HATE to "force" my computer off so I can reboot. Please help.

Please go to the malware forum and follow the instructions at the top....Especially the CLICK HERE.

That will give you several steps that will help you clean up 70 percent of all problems by yourself. If at the end of the process you are still having difficulty--and you may not be-- then post an OTListIt log in THAT forum.
