May I ask why you cannot try method 2? Do you have a Windows CD?


Let's try this instead:

• Click Start, click Run, and then type compmgmt.msc in the Open box, and then press Enter.
• Expand Services, and then click System Restore Services..
• If the Status of System Restore Service is not Started, click Start on the toolbar to start it.

Let me know if the Service is up and running or if you have any trouble starting it.

Download Flash_Disinfector.exe by sUBs from here and save it to your desktop.

• Double-click Flash_Disinfector.exe to run it and follow any prompts that may appear.
• The utility may ask you to insert your flash drive and/or other removable drives including your mobile phone. Please do so and allow the utility to clean up those drives as well.
• Wait until it has finished scanning and then exit the program.
• Reboot your computer when done.
  
  Note: Flash_Disinfector will create a hidden folder named autorun.inf in each partition and every USB drive plugged in when you run it. Don't delete this folder...it will help protect your drives from future infection.

Im happy to hear that the System Restore issue is fixed.


There is still two things I would like to clean out of your system that is realated to the flash drive infection. So let's do this and see what comes up.



Run OTL

• Under the Custom Scans/Fixes box at the bottom, paste in the following

• Let the program run unhindered, reboot the PC when it is done

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here.

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

• Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
• If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
• Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
• The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
• When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
• Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
• When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
• The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
• Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply.

Extra Note:

If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove,you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts,click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediatly.

Let's try this again.




Congratulations!! Your logs look clean!

Now we need to do a little house keeping and remove the tools we have used.

• Click on OTL.exe
• Click the Clean It button
• If it tells you to reboot click Yes

Reseting System Restore Points.

Next you will need to reset your restore points to delete any malware that may be hiding there. Then create a fresh, clean restore point.


Windows XP:

• Right click on My Computer
• Click on Properties
• Click on the tab that reads System Restore
• Click turn off System Restore and apply
• Reboot your Computer

2.Turn back on system restore.

• Right click My Computer
• Click on Properties
• Click on the System Restore Tab
• now un-check turn off system Restore and apply

Now the next list is some programs I like to recommend to people to help keep your computer safer. Keep in mind that these are all optional.

MalwareBytes Anti Malware
This is an exellent On Access Anti-Malware Scanner.

SuperAntiSpyware
This is an Anti-Spyware program that will help protect your PC with Real Time Protection. You should have one Anti-Spyware program that scans in real time. This will help prevent your PC from picking up any more malware.


TFC
This will help delete all temporary files.

Firefox
This is an alternative for Internet Explorer. Firefox is a more secure internet browser.


You should also make sure Windows is up to date. You can simply go to Start and go to Windows Update to find out. I would recommend turning on Automatic Updates.

Heres how to do it:

• Go to Start
• Click on the Control Panel
• Click on Security
• Then click on Windows update
• Then settings to turn Windows Update On/Off

You should check and make sure that you keep your Anti-Virus up to date. This is also a crucial part of your security. You can do this by clicking on your Anti-Virus and clicking on update. If your AV has an automatic update feature, i would recommend turning it on in the settings menu.
