Computer Crashes During Realtek Audio driver Setup

Hey Geeks2go, just yesterday i decided that enough was enough with my computer problems, and i decided it was time for a complete wipe and format of my pc. so after doing this, reinstalling windows XP (sp2) i manage to successfully reinstall my Netgear wireless adaptor, and obviously (as i am talking to you now..) i am back on the internet. However, my only problem is, that i cannot hear anything. No, i havent gone deaf

my speakers dont work. Well; it isnt my speakers that dont work, its the sound card driver (i think...). I have had a similar problem before after a format, but all that the problem was, was that my sound card was disabled in the BIOS. i changed that and everything was fine. however this time round, the sound card is enabled.

The solutions i have tried are as follows:

Checking Volume control: i cannot do this, as all the options are Greyed out, and there is no volume icon in the system tray.
Checking the hardware: I also cannot do this, as the control panel tells me that there is NO hardware installed.
Checked to roll back driver: All i got from this was an error message saying that there are no previous drivers (obviously) so this didnt work.

Finally i decided that the answer had been staring me in the face all along. I had to reinstall my driver for the realtek audio. so, downloading the audio driver (i keep saying audio, in my computer > manage > device manager, it calls it a Multimedia Audio Controller.. this is the one with the yellow ! next to it.) i go to install the driver, and at the end, it crashes, restarts my computer and then restarts with a message saying "Your system has recovered from a serious error."

Please help.. i love my music

and i really would like my speakers back.

Please ask if you need any sort of information, im not a n00b on computers, i know my way around one, so dont feel you need to treat me with kid-gloves

Download and install Free Everest Home Edition
Open it.
1: In left pane expand Computer folder.
2: Click once on Summary
3: In upper menu, go Report
4: And then to Quick Report-Summary
5: Save it in text file, and paste it in your next post.
Click the + by computer, click on Sensor. Get a screenshot and post it so I can check your temps and voltages...

DO NOT INCLUDE ANYTHING UNDER THE LINE THAT SAYS "DEBUG- PCI"

You got the corporate version instead of the home version
Home version will give more details so if you could please download the Home version and attach a new report.
Also do you have the MOBO driver disk?
You can go HERE and get the newest drivers for your MOBO.
You will have to choose the correct MOBO to do this.

OK first need to address this
System Memory 512 MB (PC3200 DDR SDRAM)
This is not related but you should consider increasing this to 1 gig of memory.
You are running bare minimum for OS system which will cause the system to slow down.

Go to HERE and run the Crucial online scanner.
This will give you the exact memory configuration for your system. You do not have to buy the memory from there, but write down the information and if you need assistance in purchasing the upgrade memory GTG can assist with suggestions also.

yeah i tried installing the one from the first site.. that didnt work, so i now have tried installing the one from the SiS website.. just gotta wait and see if that is successful now

Let's try a different approach using different steps.

Download Autoruns from the link in my signature below:
1: Extract the Autoruns Zip file contents to a folder.
2: Double-click the "Autoruns.exe".
3: Click on the "Everything" tab
4: Remove any entries that mention "File Not Found" by right-clicking the entry and select Delete.
5: Go to File then to Export As.
6: Save AutoRuns.txt file to know location.
7: Attach to your next reply.
