printer says printing BUT ISNT!

Im wondering if anyone can help me? WhenI click on a document to print my printer says it is printing but doesnt? Ive been through the help guide on my computor, turned printer on/off, checked connections, plenty of paper/ink etc printer is online. My printer is also a scanner, and will scan and print ut it seems as though the info from comp to printer is not worrking?
Can anyone help as Im getting frustrated and running out of ideas!
