ok i made a local account instead of one on the domain and i have copied everything to that account as well as reloaded all the drivers that i know if. I still have a single device that is labeled unknown that i have no clue what it might be. I have unplugged everything except for my keyboard and mouse and it still shows an unknow device. On the previous OS Eset had a device for its firewall miniport; any chance that could have carried over to the new OS? I have not installed Eset to the new OS yet.
So far no BSODs or System Freezes.
Also.. in the malware thread they had me get a reading from speed fan. There reading looked odd in a couple of Voltage rails. However, i just happened to notice in the MoBo's BIOS a place that showed the current board stats (temp, Actual Voltage for the different rails, etc) They all looked fine there. Is there any chance that the reading speed fan gave are off? I have read rumors that speed fan is inaccurate..

No software based speed or temperature program is going to be accurate all the time even some of the time. They are used as just a bases and suggestions made from them.
I seriously doubt Eset is a problem with new installation.
Can you get a screenshot of the device manger showing the yellow marked item?
Please Go to
1: STARTand the click on RUN
2: Type in devmgmt.msc
3: Click Enter
4. Look for any entries with Yellow Exclamation ! marks or Red X's
To do a screenshot please have click on your Print Screen on your keyboard. It is normally the key above your number pad between the F12 key and the Scroll Lock key
Now go to Start and then to All Programs
Scroll to Accessories and then click on Paint
In the Empty White Area click and hold the CTRL key and then click the V
Go to the File option at the top and click on Save as
Save as file type JPEG and save it to your Desktop
Attach it to your next reply

odd.. i rebooted and that device that was still missing a driver is.. well.. missing...
ok i assume next step is to start reloading programs. this is gonna take a while, i have a lot of programs to reload... some of them(games in particular) will take forever and a day to load and patch and all. and before I start all that i need to get Eset's Suite back. hopefully i can still find the installer. Last time this happened i had lost my receipt and had to convince Eset's Customer Service that I really did buy it. that was a pain in the rear...
Also... I am needing to get a program called Teracopy downloaded... I can not seem to get IE7 to open. it opens then closes immediately. for in the mean time i will just download that particular program on another machine (thank you God for letting us discover flash drives!) but sooner or later i will definitely need IE to work.. As it is now i can't even do windows updates.
any ideas?
another thing im kinda curious about... i just installed MBAM (we had it on a network drive in the domain, i signed in as administrator and installed thing like SP3 and MBAM, now back in local account. getting ready to add my domain account and move Document and settings folder to there. Any word on using the same account as the old OS in the new OS?). When i installed MBAM it said the program folder already existed. This lead me to this thought: once I load what all i think i'll need and move info over and we delete the old OS Windows folder.. wont that leave many thing still pointing to that old OS and possibly just corrupt things further? This may be a dumb question that I should already know the answer to but where is registry saved? if it is in any folder other than c:\windows then do i have 2 registries that are accessible?

Just as a suggestion, load one program and try the system. Make sure it works correctly then move on. This way if there is a problem you will isolate which program if any is causing the issue.

i will do that..
only thing is i may go anywhere from an hour to a day or two between BSOD's on the old OS.. that makes it kinda difficult to say i can really do just that.. i am about to the point where i need this computer working. Going between it and another computer is getting old and this computer is the one i use for work as well so.. getting slightly desperate.. lol
with the reading from the MoBo.. do you think PSU is still a viable reason to the BSODs/system freezes?

I can not seem to get IE7 to open. it opens then closes immediately
any ideas on why this wont open right?
yea i downloaded firefox 3.5.5 setup on the other computer and moved it with a flash drive.. it wont even launch.. i am starting to think some of this may still be malware related even though the malware guys didnt see anything.
other than that so far the OS seems to be running great. as far as i can tall it went all weekend with no BSODs or freezes

It won't hurt to go back to malware and do a checkup my friend. I would even strongly recommend it just to be sure.
Go back to your original malware topic and ask that it be reopened by the tech that helped you. I can wait till you have finished with that.

heres what i am about to try. This should tell us real quick like if the problem lies in the hardware or the software. I am swapping HDDs with my other computer. if my main computer continues to bluescreen with the secondary computers HDD then it is definitely hardware problem. If not and the HDD from my main PC bluescreens in the secondary computer then it is either software or corrupt OS(or similar). make since?
At least this will tell us whether we need to look at hardware or software instead of us jumping between the two.
if the HDD from my main PC works just fine in the secondary PC and the main PC doesn't BSOD either then i have no clue what-so-ever....lol

IF the systems are not exactly the same you will run into a problem.
Tehre will be drivers that need ot be loaded for it to work correctly and it can cause the OS to have to be reactivated
