Ok well I have a lot of files on my computer that I don't think need to be on it... But there are so many all over that I don't know how to find them all and I don't know which are and are not safe to delete. Do I have to go through and google all the files I don't know about and blah, blah, blah? That'll take forever I just wondered if there was a quicker way.
Also I downloaded this program RegCure and no matter how many times I run it there always seems to more problems. I have the program activated and everything that's not the problem lol. My PC freezes up sometimes and other times it'll restart by itself.... THEN sometimes when I go to shut down my computer will get stuck at the "Windows is Shutting Down" screen. Can someone give me some advice please lol

First off. Registry cleaners do absolutely no good.. Many times over a registry cleaner will delete an entry from the registry that is needed for a program or a system file. This will render the computer useless and most times unable to boot.

I do not know what files you are asking about. At this time, I would not delete individual files. They may be used by other programs.

I would first start by following the items at Maintaining your Machine.

This will help you quite a bit. Keep us informed and we can assist furthur if needed.

This is exactly why Reg Cleaners are not advised to be used.
I agree with 123Runner, without knowing exactly what files you are talking about it would be impossible for us to assist you.

First of all Regcure has probably altered the registry and is causing the problems with your system.
Second if you can do the following it would help us.

Download Autoruns from the link in my signature below:
1: Extract the Autoruns Zip file contents to a folder.
2: Double-click the "Autoruns.exe".
3: Click on the "Everything" tab
4: Remove any entries that mention "File Not Found" by right-clicking the entry and select Delete.
5: Go to File then to Export As.
6: Save AutoRuns.txt file to know location.
7: Attach to your next reply.

Download Speedfan (The download link is to the right), and install it. Once it's installed, run the program and post here the information it shows. The information I want you to post is the stuff that is circled in the example picture I have attached.
To make sure we are getting all the correct information it would help us if you were to attach a screenshot like the one below of your Speedfan results.

To do a screenshot please have click on your Print Screen on your keyboard.

• It is normally the key above your number pad between the F12 key and the Scroll Lock key
• Now go to Start and then to All Programs
• Scroll to Accessories and then click on Paint
• In the Empty White Area click and hold the CTRL key and then click the V
• Go to the File option at the top and click on Save as
• Save as file type JPEG and save it to your Desktop
• Attach it to your next reply

Download and install Free Everest Home Edition
Open it.
1: In left pane expand Computer folder.
2: Click once on Summary
3: In upper menu, go Report
4: And then to Quick Report-Summary
5: Save it in text file, and paste it in your next post.
Click the + by computer, click on Sensor. Get a screenshot and post it so I can check your temps and voltages...

The random files you are talking about, we can not help you with at this time.

We need to get the computer stable first. To prepare you so that you do not expect to much initially, this could very well take some time to work through.

We are all volunteers here and have many different skill levels. Please be patient as we try to assist you.

Lets 1st see what your computer shows.

Download (from my signature) Everest.
Run everest
On the far left expand computer
Click on summary
Go to the top and click on report
click on quick report-summary
click on plain text.
copy the info to your next post.

There is no need to include anything below Debug PCI



Then lets see if it finds any bad sectors on the drive.
This will take some time for this. It may ask you to run on a re-boot. Allow it
Go to My computer
Right click on C drive and choose properties.
Click on the tool tab
Under error checking, click on check now
Put a check mark in both boxes. and click start

First issue:

512 MB (DDR SDRAM)
The dimm slots actually show 768 megs total but only 512 is being seen total.
This tells me you have a faulty module. Also the modules are mismatched. I suggest purchasing new memory totaling 1 gig at least and if needed in matching pairs then two 512 meg modules.
Go to HERE and run the Crucial online scanner.
This will give you the exact memory configuration for your system. You do not have to buy the memory from there, but write down the information and if you need assistance in purchasing the upgrade memory GTG can assist with suggestions also.

Hard drive is about half full so that really is not a issue at this point.

Let's do some basic cleanup and see what pops up now.


Download Temp File Cleaner (TFC)
Double click on TFC.exe to run the program.
Click on Start button to begin cleaning process.
TFC will close all running programs, and it may ask you to restart computer.


Download Auslogics Defrag from the link in my signature below. Auslogics Defrag in my opinion is better because:
It does a more comprehensive job at Defragging
It will actually show you what it is doing
At the end of working it will show you how much speed you picked up
You can view a online log of the files that Auslogics defragged

No registry cleaners at all.
Auslogics Defrag is just for what it says. DO NOT use any kind of power booster or Reg Cleaner as this could make your system unusable.
