Hi ivry012 and welcome to Geeks to Go.
What needs to be done is to install all of the chipset drivers for the laptop that are specific to the XP version you have.
Start here at Your Compaq/ HP drivers

Please Go to
1: STARTand the click on RUN
2: Type in devmgmt.msc
3: Click Enter
4. Look for any entries with Yellow Exclamation ! marks or Red X's
Take a screenshot
To do a screenshot please have click on your Print Screen on your keyboard. It is normally the key above your number pad between the F12 key and the Scroll Lock key
Now go to Start and then to All Programs
Scroll to Accessories and then click on Paint
In the Empty White Area click and hold the CTRL key and then click the V
Go to the File option at the top and click on Save as
Save as file type JPEG and save it to your Desktop
Attach it to your next reply
Which C700 notebook do you have?
Maybe we can help find the missing drivers for you.

We are going to have to do this a different way. The HP site doesn't list chipset drivers for XP.
Hopefully we will find out what the main board manufacturer is.
Download (from my signature) Everest.
Run everest
On the far left expand computer
Click on summary
Go to the top and click on report
click on quick report-summary
click on plain text.
copy the info to your next post.
There is no need to include anything below Debug PCI
Rshaffer61....I wonder if we should try the Vista drivers and chipset that are listed?

I have done some more searching.
A downgrade from Vista to XP is always tough because all new computers are built for Vista. The manufactureres do not make drivers for XP.
Anyways here are a few links. The consensus is that nearly any c7xx XP drivers will work on this machine.
The 1st link seems to be the most promising.

When you find the drivers that work, burn them to a CD and save them where you can find them again.
