An air card with a small bundle for updates and porn haha would be fairly cheap. One of my buddies has an air card and will be back to work on wednesday. I might be able to borrow it to update this thing. I was looking back and the last update was in march. I just got back to work 10 days ago so this computer has been off line since then. Thanks for your help. NoKlu

Well, it's certainly not recommended, but I know people who've gone longer without updates. If the version of XP you have on that disk is retail and not OEM, (and I think you said you built the system? Should be retail then) you might, maybe, be able to take the hard drive home with you when you leave and pop it into a computer you have at home and boot from it, then update. This may not work, though - I've seen it work but only rarely.

If your company's firewall is anything like its filter, and if you run firefox with noscript and maintain the system religiously, then you could get away without updating.

Still, I think the aircard is the better idea, and heck you can use it for other purposes as you say. :)

Sorry it couldn't be worked around. And make sure you turn "Update Root Certificates" back on, if you haven't already.

Take care!

you can download any and all xp updates from the softwarepatch...they have their own installers...go here
if you have a AMD processor install the WindowsXP-KB953356-x86-ENU.exe BEFORE installing SP3
