I was contracted with the smit fraud trojan just last night!!! Anyways, I managed to get rid of the bright blue screen and the weird black screen afterwards. However, I still have those random IE popups and those weird ! yellow triangles, and I use mozilla firefox too. It is also slowing down my comp. T_T I tried ad-aware, spy-bot and spyware blaster but the random IE popups is still there. So....I need help because I'm actually using my brother's laptop..and I don't want to wreck his system. I actually d/l killbox but I'm not sure which files to get rid off...so I'm pretty stuck on that.

I hope to hear a reply regarding this problem asap. T_T

Anyways here the log:

C:\bsw.exe
C:\Windows\sites.ini
C:\Windows\popuper.exe
C:\Windows\system32\hhk.dll
C:\Windows\System32\wldr.dll
C:\Windows\System32\helper.exe
C:\Windows\System32\intmon.exe
C:\Windows\System32\shnlog.exe

* Click on the button that has the red circle with the X in the middle. It will ask for confimation to delete the files on next reboot. Click Yes. It will then ask if you want to reboot now. Click Yes.

If your computer does not restart automatically, please restart it manually.

While your computer is restarting, tap the F8 key continually until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode, then hit enter to boot to safe mode.

Because XP will not always show you hidden files and folders by default, Go to Start > Search and under "More advanced search options".
Make sure there is a check by "Search System Folders" and "Search hidden files and folders" and "Search system subfolders"

Next click on My Computer. Go to Tools > Folder Options. Click on the View tab and make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is checked. Also uncheck "Hide protected operating system files" and "Hide extensions for known file types" . Now click "Apply to all folders"
Click "Apply" then "OK"

Find and delete these folders if they exist:

C:\Program Files\Search Maid
C:\Program Files\Virtual Maid
C:\Program Files\Security IGuard
C:\WINDOWS\System32\Services

Delete this file if found:

C:\Windows\System32\Log Files

* Reboot into normal mode.

* Locate smitfraudfix.reg on your desktop and doubleclick on it. When asked if you want to merge with the registry click YES. After you receive the prompt "merged successfully", follow the rest of instructions below.

1.) Download the Hoster from here . UnZip the file and press "Restore Original Hosts" and press "OK". Exit Program.

2.) Download DelDomains.inf from here.

Rightclick DelDomains.inf and choose install.

3.) Download, install, and run CleanUp! from here

Reboot your computer

4.) Run ActiveScan online virus scan here

When the scan is finished, anything that it cannot clean have it delete it. Make a note of the file location of anything that cannot be deleted so you can delete it yourself.
- Save the results from the scan!

Post a new HiJackThis log along with the results from ActiveScan

I couldn't run activescan because it requires IE and I use firefox..is there any other way to run the last step with firefox? (Like I said, I'm using my brother's laptop and it seems he hid IE somewhere that I can't even search for it..).
