My Dad was using my laptop for internet access and was fine. 5 minutes later I went to go online and there was a box about installing drivers for a USB2 wireless adapter, even though there was no cd or hardware installed. I have an internal wireless device that is no longer connecting at all. This is on Windows Vista OS, Toshiba laptop.

I am using my brothers laptop from the same network mine usually connects to.

One other thing, I looked in the Device Manager and it is saying my internal network card is working properly (though it's not) and there was a section for other devices where the USB2 adapter was listed and said it was not configured properly. I removed that device but it's still not working

Any suggestions? Thanks

There are some experts on here who can help you much better than I can, but let me offer a few simple suggestions...

1. Try shutting the laptop down, and wait a few minutes before booting

Can you at least see the wireless network?

Did your Dad plug anything into the laptop while using it?

By "internal network card " you mean the internal wireless network card right? Not the wired one?

Thank you for your suggestions, I have tried shutting it down and that still did not help.

Unfortunately I cannot see any Wireless networks. There are normally a few that I can see.

Dad said he only checked his email and that was all. No downloads or anything.

When referring to the internal network card, I am referring to the wireless network card.
