I cannot burn a CD.
I have tried Media player, itunes, nero, all say there is no disk in the drive. I have tried copying files to disk in Windows, same thing.
I have run virus scan, cleaned up files, defraged, deleted and decompressed. I have bought new disks..
Everything else works I can play a CD ,play a DVD I just cannot burn to disk,,any suggestions?

yes I can play a CD or a DVD no problem there, I think the problem started when I reformatted awhile back, is it possible that I need a driver or something?

Sounds like the Write side of the drive has died.
Would this happen to be a LiteOn drive?
