Greetings. I came across this forum when searching for a solution to a problem I am having.

I am running Windows XP on my desktop and am having an issue with rundll32.exe. At startup I have about 150 processes and they are mostly all rundll32.exe. If I stop explorer.exe, I am able to close all the rundll32.exe. But, when I run explorer.exe again, the rundll32.exe keeps on multiplying itself to the point where I cannot work on the system. I have not been able to install any malware software or run any scans. I have tried starting in safe mode and also changed to diagnostic startup in msconfig -- nothing has helped.

Has anybody else had this problem and know of a solution? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hello,

This doesn't sound good at all. Actually, it sounds like a ton of Malware.

I suggest you go to the Malware Forum and run all the steps located in the START HERE. These self-help tools will help you clean up 70% of problems on your own. If you are still having problems after doing the steps, then please post the reguested logs in THAT forum. If you are unable to run and/or post the required logs, then post that in your initial post in the topic you create in that forum.

If you are still having problems after being given a clean bill of health from the malware expert, then please return to THIS thread and we will pursue other options to help you solve your current problem(s).

You're welcome.

If after you take care of the malware, and you still need help, just post back here. You may need to send me a PM as I may lose your thread.
