Hi guys, was hoping you might be able to help me.

I've got to problems, possibly 3. First of all I'm getting a lot of BSOD with two different complaints about Win32.sys and dxgkrnl.sys. Secondly every time I try and install SP2 for x64 Vista, it does its bit, restarts, and apparently does something to the registry on restart, but stops before it can finish with error:

!! 0xc0000033 !! 3596/96992 (imtcui.DLL)

Sorry if this is posted in the wrong place. I know you guys like HJT logs so I tried doing one for the first time. Hope this helps.

Howdy and welcome to GTG:

Why are you trying to install the 64bit version of SP2 when your system shows you running the 32bit version?

Murray,

Can you tell me which part of the log tells you this?

I'm looking at the very Vista disk I used to install this when I got my last HDD. It says "Windows Vista Home Premium" and "This disc contains 64-bit software only.

Further to that when I took it into a repair shop ages ago, they installed a 32 bit version, and it wouldn't take. I had to install the 64 bit version with my own disc before it would function normally. And yes it's an official copy etc.

It should be 64-bit. I'm confused.com

I just pulled this up from System Info too.

Missed the one file that shows it as a 64bit os (\SysWOW64).

Are you running Windows Office on your system? That file belongs to an Office install.

I was at one stage, but last it when I had to reinstall Windows. I just had another BSOD which said it had somethin to do with partmgr.sys I don't know if that helps, is irrelevant, or just leaves more questions.

Is your hdd partitioned?

Is the cd you are using from a different system you once had?

Is your computer branded (HP, Acer, etc) or custom?

No partitions.

My system is, well, I suppose it's custom, I decided on the components, but Scan.co.uk built it. When it had to have repairs they changed the motherboard.

The company who repaired it used their own version/disc, but the disc I have is the original one Scan sent out "Licensed only for distribution with a new PC" and that's the disc used for this installation.

(Does the dxgkrnl.sys have anything to do with DirectX and it's drivers?)

(Also reading something about potential Creative X-fi/Nvidia graphics cards conflicts?)

It is for DirectX and there are some problems that have been identified between Vista and Nvidia video cards.

Do you have or can you get a different vid card and install it?

In short I have no other cards, and funds at the momenty definately don't allow for a new one. Much as I'd love one.

If I have old installations on any of my 3 hard disks, could that confuse the system? They'd all be under windows.old I believe but still.
