hi there

ive recently installed a fresh copy of XP onto my DEll Vostro 200 system. however i keep getting blue screen crashes regarding corrupt drivers. how can i sort this? ive used the dell cd (which is a bit confusing) to update the drivers but are there some that are out of date or what? its really annoying me now as i cant tell if all the drivers are fully up to date

Thanks

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Conclusion
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

5 crash dumps have been found and analyzed. Note that it's not always possible to state with certainty whether a reported driver is really responsible for crashing your system or that the root cause is in another module. Nonetheless it's suggested you look for updates for the products that these drivers belong to and regularly visit Windows update or enable automatic updates for Windows. In case a piece of malfunctioning hardware is causing trouble, a search with Google on the bug check errors together with the model name and brand of your computer may help you investigate this further.

Thanks in advance

Are you using some software called Threatfire and the virus protection known as Avast?
These two files seem to be the cause of 4 of the 5 driver crashes you show in the log.
Can you also take a Screenshot off your Device Manager showing everything?

To do a screenshot please have click on your Print Screen on your keyboard. It is normally the key above your number pad between the F12 key and the Scroll Lock key
Now go to Start and then to All Programs
Scroll to Accessories and then click on Paint
In the Empty White Area click and hold the CTRL key and then click the V
Go to the File option at the top and click on Save as
Save as file type JPEG and save it to your Desktop

Hi

yeah im using threatfire which is some sort of spyware/virus protection program from PC tools(my rewall is pc tools firewall) and Avast antivirus. Are these conflicting with one another?

here are the 2 jpegs of device manager. Storage systems expanded just had 4 'generic volume' listings. left them out so i only had 2 attachments for you.

Thanks

Taz

Yes it is never a good ideal to run to active AV programs as this will cause false positive readings and can cause crashes due to both running.
Pick one and uninstall the other. My personal preference is Avast to keep as it is free and updates everyday.

I have ince just re-installed xp again and made sure i had all the right drivers as well. the bios was out of date also so maybe that had something to do with it. Not running threatfire with avast either now. All seems to be runnning smoothly now after reinstall however. if i get the same errors back again i will post a reply here.
