reformated drive with xp no start

my computer would not start at all. so reinstalled windows 98 but would not detect my dsl internet. so then installed xp over that. now have internet and xp but computer will not start with having xp disk in drive. with disk in drive will start after it goes through black screen saying to install from disk press any key if I hit nothing it will come up windows starting. then windows starts and things work. I dont want to have to leave the disk in the computer all the time someone said something about master and slave drives not being set up? if this would be the problem how do I fix it????????? :tazz:
