Error: 12007 connecting to FTP?

Hi all. First post here - I hope you can help. I am pretty dumb when it comes to computers so please be patient with me lol

My mum's laptop had a virus which has been removed and we also restored her laptop. Since then I have not been able to use the internet on my own laptop properly. The wireless router is connected to her laptop and my computer connects to it automatically. The connection seems fine as is the router etc but I keep getting this page cannot be displayed messages - especially for sites like google and hotmail. Sometimes it says it can't find the url and redirects me back to a bing search page or sometimes a url called com.org. I scanned for malware and spyware etc, nothing found.

Ran the 'Diagnose connection problems' and this was the result:
