My screen only work in safe mode

My pc was working good but now my screen will only work in safe mode
If I start the pc normally I will see the Window XP logo and everything look OK, but it won't get to my name so I can login
instead the screen turn black and after 10 seconds it will display all kind of color and lines.
The pc will then reboot by itself and do it all over again
(it will eventually stop rebooting)
I did a system recovery in safe mode but it didn't fix anything
I did a defrag 2 days ago ( not sure if that could be the cause )

I use Windows xp home edition
My pc is a Compact Presario Amd Athlon 3200
The screen is a DEll flat screen
The video card is a Radeon 9200 series
( that what it's say in the display adapter )

How can I fix this problem
