I have a computer that will not stay on. I got a external case and hooked the hard drive in it to make sure it was not fried. I went to "My computer" and then found the HD there, it seems to be fine. I'm able to see what is on my desktop, however for some reason I cannot access my pictures. Anyone know why or how I might be able to get them?

TIA

Ill take a stab that he needs to take ownership of the folder/files.
If not we need to know what error you are getting.

Nope, no error, just cannot find them at all.
However when I do click on "all users" it says
J:/docutmens and settings/hp_owner is not accessible, access is denied

But there are NO folders w/ pics anywhere, and I know I had at least 5 :)

Taking ownership of files

hi. I read this but where it says

To take ownership of a file, follow these steps:
Right-click the file that you want to take ownership of, and then click Properties.
Click the Security tab, and then click OK on the Security message (if one appears).
Click Advanced, and then click the Owner tab.
In the Name list, click Administrator, or click the Administrators group, and then click OK.

The administrator or the administrators group now owns the file.

I cant take owner ship of them when the pics arent there tho right?
*Sorry i'm kinda confused*
