I have a DVD-+R DL ROM drive and a CD-ROM drive.
Recently, my CD-ROM drive light stays on when I boot up the computer. I have checked the PATA cables and there was nothing wrong with them. I even tried new PATA cables and still got a solid light. I then checked the jumper to make sure it was set on the proper selection (Master, Cable Select or Slave). It was. I tried several different drives (CD-ROM and DVD-ROM) with the same effect.
Now comes the weird part. When I plug in my DVD-+R DL ROM. it works perfectly!!

What can I do to fix this? HELP!!!!

Does the drive work? Read stuff?
Does the drive light flash at all? Does it flash in tandem with the hard drive light on the case front?
