Hello,

In advance, thank you for helping resolve this issue. I have an acer Laptop with Vista. The computer was purchased from Circuit City and it came with no Vista-CD. I am unable to boot the computer as it appears my system volume is corrupt.

During Booting:

1. If I click Start Windows Normally I get a blue screen.

2. If I click Safe Mode. It stops at crcdysk.sys

3. If I launch the Startup Repair (recommended), it starts to load and then goes into System Recovery Options. First I select keyboard layout (US), then apepars a screen prompting me to select an operating system to repair. There is nothing to choose in that screen (it is blank) then I can click "Load Drivers" or "Next". If I click "Load Drivers" it goes into System32 Folder (Under PQSERVICE X:) and have no idea what to do after that. If I click "Next", I get the Recovery Tools option. If I click on any of them it fails to complete.

Once again, thank you for your help.

Update...

I ran chkdsk /F c: (three times)
as well chkdsk /R c:

now instead of a blue screen at boot time I get a black screen and stays there.

If I do recovery repair, it fails.

If I do Safe Mode...it still stops at crcdsk.sys.

Thanks,
-Larry
