trying to connect my PC to my projector

here is my current set up:

i run my cable and blueray into my stereo sorround system. it has 7 input options. i then run a wire from the stereo to my projector, which is mounted up near the ceiling and really not possible to reach with a standard computer to monitor cord.

this is what the back of the stereo looks like:

so i bought one of these things on ebay:

i thought I would be able to hook one end into my computer and then plug the red/blue/green cords into the componant video jacks. evenrything fit right and looked great, but I couldnt get anything but a black screen.

Any ideas?

first....i don't know if you think everyone on this site is blind or stupid, but there's no reason to use that massive font size...so i've removed it

second, with the computer, are you hooking the projector up as the ONLY monitor? or as a second monitor?
