Why did you start a new topic?

I just asked you a question in the other one. I'll just close it and ask here. Are you have any problems besides not being able to get into iamnotageek?

Hey sorry bout that, thought maybe i should start new 1, sorry :tazz:

actually i figured out that whole problem. you have to physically log out of there forums even if you are not connected anymore (been going between 2 computers)

I just really like the sound of experts being the only ones who can respond so i am going to start coming here. I think i possibly have gotten rid of all the Badies but maye not . Windows SP2 still wont let me use its firewall( might be bad I dunno) ive got ZoneAlarm now ,so i do have a firewall. i just think its wierd that windows wont let me use my firewall.

Does the log look pretty good ?

Again Thanks SOOOOO MUCH !

I'm glad you decided to keep us instead :tazz:

Have you tried to make sure your firewall is enabled?

Go to Start > Connect To

*Click on "Show All Connections"
*Right-click your default Internet Connection.
*Go to "Properties".
*Click the "Advanced Tab"
*Click "Settings" next to Help protect my computer and network by limiting or preventing access to this computer from the Internet.
*NOTE* if there isn't a Settings button there should be an option to put a checkmark next to Help protect my computer and network by limiting or preventing access to this computer from the Internet if it's unchecked, but a check next to it!
*If there is a Settings button and its showing your firewall Off, turn it On!

On That note, your log looks fine!

Let's try this though:

First, download, install, and run CleanUp! (so the scan won't take as long because cleanup will clear temporary files) *NOTE* Cleanup deletes EVERYTHING out of temp/temporary folders. If you have anything in a temp folder, backup it up or move it to a permanent folder prior to running Cleanup! Cleanup does not make backups!

Please download ewido security suite
  • Install ewido security suite
  • Launch ewido, there should be a big E icon on your desktop, double-click it.
  • The program will prompt you to update click the OK button
  • The program will now go to the main screen
You will need to update ewido to the latest definition files.
  • On the left hand side of the main screen click update
  • Click on Start
The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.

Once the updates are installed do the following:
  • Reboot into Safe Mode, you can do this by restarting your computer, then contiunally tapping F8 until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode, then hit enter. Then, run Ewido.
  • Click on scanner
  • Make sure the following boxes are checked before scanning:
    • Binder
    • Crypter
    • Archives
  • Click on Start Scan
  • Let the program scan the machine
While the scan is in progress you will be prompted to clean files, click OK

Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report
  • Click Save report
  • Save the report to your desktop
Reboot into normal mode.

Then, please run this online virus scan:
ActiveScan

Save the results from ActiveScan.

I need you to post the log from Ewido and the log from ActiveScan.

* Please download the Killbox by Option^Explicit. *In the event you already have Killbox, this is a new version that I need you to download.

* Save it to your desktop.

* Run Killbox.exe.

* Select "Delete on Reboot".

* Open the Notepad file where you saved these instructions earlier, and copy the file names below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them then press CTRL + C

C:\Temp\salm_*.dat
C:\WINNT\system32\ritsacnk.dat
C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Temp\cfout.txt
C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Ssk.log

C:\WINNT\system32\baur5s9q.dat
C:\WINNT\system32\q10pvbrv.dat
C:\WINNT\system32\ritsacnk.dat

* Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose "Paste from Clipboard".

* Click the red-and-white "Delete File" button. Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click "No" at the Pending Operations prompt. If your computer does not restart automatically, please restart it manually.

After your computer reboots, delete these folders (in bold):

Thank you - that's sweet of you to say! ;)

You don't have to give PayPal your bank info. But, seriously, I don't want you to jump through hoops to send me a donation! It is a very sweet thought, though! ;)

On that note, your log is very clean! The trojan found by Ewido is now gone, the item found by ActiveScan is just a remnant in your registry left from SaveNow. Not harmful, just a little clutter. When can try to find the key, but it'll be like searching for a needle in a haystack.

Great job on keeping your system clean!! :tazz:

COOl !! so you think it be ok to leave that SaveNow registry key in the REG ??
I wouldnt mind hunting it down if you think you might know what folders it might be in( in Regedit )

So Is PayPal safe I guess ?? and if so can i just go to your User Profile and click on the Paypal Link? and it will automatically know that i want to send it to you ?
Is there much of a fee for using this ?

I really want to tip ya ! I think my Parents are about to ask me to help fix theres, so i prolly be back for more help here soon.

And again THANK YOU SO MUCH and talk to ya soon.

Also I would like to uninstall Ewido. Is that ok as far as like it wont let that trojan(we killed ) come back ?
I just like to have the least amount of processes runnin on my pc (of course i would keep the Ewido install for later checks) :tazz:

sorry bout all the questions. Im a little over cautious sometimes ;)
