lsass.exe - Bad Image Error

Hi, I keep getting the following error message before my log in screen:

"lsass.exe - Bad Image
The application or DLL C:\WINDOWS\System32\LCASRV.dll is not a valid Windows image. Please check against your installation diskette."

I click "OK" and it just stays on a black screen, I cannot get onto my log in or my desktop.

I have tried starting in all of the safe modes, the last known good configuration and rebooting but I keep getting the same error message at the same time.

I want to make it clear that I cannot access my desktop.

So can anyone help me.

I have searched the forums and although I found a few pages that have had this problem they had been closed due to lack of a reply.
