My hard disk suddenly failed

My computer is fine
its just that my backup hard disk with all my docs has suddenly started giving me this error

The file or diectory is corrupted and unreadable

i used a program called partion table doctor 3 demo to access the drive
in ancii it says ntldr is missing, ntldr is compressed press ctrl alt del to reboot

but this is all in the program

i found this other program r - studio and its able to scan my drive and is able to read it

but thats it
is there a way to fix the drive and not loose the files

any help would be nice
