Hi - I'm not certain if I can use the same solutions provided all the other folk who have written in about the adware problems; I did download Hijack This (and had previously downloaded SpybotS&D and NoAdware; neither of which could completely rid me of "cleverIEHooker.jeired", which seems to continuously generate new adware programs and relentless pop-up ads. I researched several of the posts, and the answers did seem a bit different per person, so I hope I'm not adding a burden to you by attaching my hijack log and hoping you'll be able to help me be rid of this awful parasite!!!

I got adventurous and tried to apply the instructions in the reply to PrincessFrost's posts, but it didn't seem to work. I didn't have the file "jvtmjrbp.exe" in my windows\system32 folder. I did have a TV Media folder in my program files, which contained Tvm, TvmBho.dll, and TvmCore.dll. It would neither allow me to delete them individually, nor by deleting their folder, stating the program was currently in use by another user (I am the only user on this computer). I did the hijack scan again and was able to remove/fix R3-URLSearchHook: (no name) - {707E6F76...... ; O4-HKLM\..\RunOnce: [TV Media] C:\Program Files\TV Media\Tvn.exe; and 04-HKCU\..\RunOnce: [TV Media] C:\Program Files\TV Media\Tvm.exe. Nonetheless, I'm still getting the popups (they are always preceded by a window titled "680180.net - Microsoft Internet Explorer." So I guess I need my own individual set of instructions - I really appreciate the help and will make a donation!!

Thank you so much! It looks like it worked, as I'm no longer getting pop-up ads; I'll run spybot and noadware to make sure, but it would appear the system is clean!! I could not disable the ctfmon.exe file from Microsoft Office; the instructions from the Microsoft support web page did not seem to apply, as some of the steps involved files that did not exist on my computer. I just got this computer a little over a week ago, from Dell, so I'll try calling their support team up about that particular issue (the unnecessary office application running in the background, using up a lot of my RAM). There's a lot of controversy over what ctfmon's true purpose is. Personally, I think it's a resource hog, but nothing to fear.

These next two steps are optional, but will provide the greatest protection.
1. Use ANY browser besides Internet Explorer, almost every exploit is crafted to take advantage of an IE weakness. We usually recommend Firefox.
2. Install Sun's Java. It's much more secure than Microsoft's Java Virtual Machine .
