Hi all, I'm hoping someone can help me here. My laptop (Packard Bell Easynote) will connect to my network but not the internet. On the Network and Sharing Centre it says "Unidentified network" despite the network being called "HomeWireless".

I've tried repairing the connection in windows, and tried turning the router on and off. My flatmates' computers are all connecting fine. I've tried renewing IP settings but no luck so was hoping someone here could help as this is all a bit beyond me. My IP settings currently are:

Windows IP Configuration

Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:

Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected
Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :

Wireless LAN adapter Wireless Network Connection:

Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
Link-local IPv6 Address . . . . . : fe80::2947:3d0d:a253:ea9e%8
Autoconfiguration IPv4 Address. . : 169.254.234.158
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.0.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . :

Tunnel adapter Local Area Connection* 7:

Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected
Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :

Tunnel adapter Local Area Connection* 10:

Thanks for any help.

Check your DSL Line. Connect to the internet with the DSL modem only.(Check if modem and DSL Line ok)

Another option is to reset your router and reconfigure your router settings!

I asssume that you are using a DSL modem configure to a router.

Try resetting the modem and the router. If that doesn't work, some routers have a built-in firewall. Disable that or enable port-forwarding. The router has to be able to get the IP address of the modem in order to be able to access the internet. All PCs that connect to that router will get an IP address from a group (ie. 192.168.0.00- 192.168.9.999). If it can't get an IP from the router, then it can't connect to the internet.

That would be "192.168.0.0 – 192.168.255.255". :)
