Hi all im a new poster i know, to put it short.. i have the spent the best part of the day tryin to connect my new (shiny :)) laptop (on vista) to my pc running Windows 7. My main aim is to b able to get all my files off the windows 7 pc onto the laptop. But i am also interested in sharing the files any way so i can watch them on xbox 360 etc. People have mentioned flash drives to me/cd/dvd's but seems i have about 200gb to transfer i dnt really want to have to do that it will take hours!

Basically iv followed alot of the guides online on how to make the connect. The closest i came was gettin my vista laptop to see the windows 7 pc. but then it asked me for a user name and password although i had turned that off in advance settings on windows 7?. if any of you could post a detailed instructions of how to do this. or how i can connect my pc's another way. i even tried doing ad hoc's but they didnt seem to like each other! im running out of ideas and dnt particularly wanna buy a easy transfer cable!.
Thanks in advance and sorry for making u read so much :) :)
