Screen has shrunk

The screen on my laptop has unexpectedly shrunk , so that there is a 2 and a half inch black gap to the left of the screen.
No software changes have been made and Ive tried altering the resoloution settings to no avail.
Im using an Asus A6000.
Can anyone help?

Problem solved.
Opened in safe mode and changed the display settings.
Back to normal.
