Hello all.

I am building my first computer and wanted to make sure that everything is kosher before I put down the money for it. The list should be complete, minus the audio card I will be getting later. I already have a keyboard and mouse, and I will be using a headset until I can save up some more money for speakers. I know that you all are helpful and knowledgeable, so I figured I would post here. Thank you for any help and suggestions you might have.

If anyone has any recommendations on a good sound card (primarily for gaming), and also a good set of speakers please let me know. If you know of anything on this list that can be better, or found for a cheaper price please let me know as well. Thank you, and have a good day. I hope that the links work. I am pretty sure about the New Egg ones, but not the Tiger Direct ones.

hI.

System sounds very good except the vidio card, I think is getting a little old. You have a large monitor, so you want to make sure the card can give top frame rates at high resolution.

I would look at the HD 4890 or the Gforce GTX 260 OC, brands, I lean towards Gigabyte, Asus is good as well.

Search for your parts on

Good luck.undefined

The system is quite good although the contrast ratio on the monitor could be better, have you looked around and concluded this is the best for the price?

Also, I built my computer in June 2009 and spent £250 on my Q9650 processor; I hear the price has been halved - maybe you could get a good deal on one?

Okay, I will take a look at a better monitor (any reccomendations for vendors?), and also a newer video card. Don't know about the processor but I will take a look as well. Also, did you mean to add a place to look iammykyl? All I see in your post is Search for you parts on... and then it ends. Thank you everyone, and I will update when I search some more.

I'm also building a new computer and I've read the opinions of the EVGA GeForce 9800 1GB at Newegg.com. Even though the site gives the EVGA cards top ratings, the reviews from purchasers say that a lot of them arrive DOA?? For specific reasons (mainly I ordered before I researched) I'm going with a 9800 instead of the newer 200 series. I went with an MSI 9800 1GB. Many of the 200 series reviews say they're really long cards. Unfortunately everyone said check lengths before you buy but wouldn't give the length of the cards??!! Even the sites don't give physical dimensions.

the Gforce GTX 260 OC is 263mm long and a very big heat sink.

Hey!
First of all, I suggest you compare the prices of your components on newegg.com and check if TigerD or Newegg has the best prices.
If you want to know, this is the monitor I use: http://www.tigerdire...e...&CatId=2775

Change you PSU to a Corsair or OCZ 600-700W PSU... I think 500W should be enough too.
I strongly suggest these: http://www.newegg.co.....orsair Memory
You don't need 1kW of power.

I really like your case selection (are you going to watercool?)
You can also go with an Antec 1200.
The optical drives are good too, and so is the HDD.

You might want to get an i5 or i7 system (change your CPU, mobo, and RAM choices)
