problem with vent

my vent used 2 run ok until i connected 1 day and ppl say i sounded all muffled:like i had a sock in my mouth i tryed to set playback and record but when i hit the buttons this comes up : C:\windows\system32\sndvol32.exerc:2 please help i can hear them fine but they cant hear me,runnin vista by the way
