Im having a terrible time with my computer. It all came into effect on a computer restart, I realized there maybe a problem since I was getting various adware popups. I didn’t havea good anti-virus program installed so I downloaded a free CA suite that my internet provider offers.. the problem is I needed to reboot the computer for the installation to complete.. bad move. Because that gave the worm a foothold.
Now my windows xp is saying it needs to be authenticated, and on start up which takes a while, The minimize bar seems to be useless, the windows start menu sometimes doesnt work at all, and I get a 60sec count down on the desktop screen. The pop up box says “ Auto restart error 1073741819 lsass.exe …. Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Service Terminated Unexpectedly” .. I try to hamper the countdown unsuccessfully and then it reboots.
The other thorn in my side is I had created a user profile other than the administrator that I had been automatically logging into. Now when I tried to do system restore I got a pop up saying I do not have the administrative power to do this.. the virus doesn’t give me enough time to switch user names. And apply system restore.. actually now it has disabled and made the administrator log in invisible/gone.. I've even tried booting in Safe Mode.. nothing, the countdown continues and all problems are the same.
What can I do to get rid of this thing?
