I got onto my computer this morning and logged on but my computer froze, so I restarted it. When I turned it back on an error message came up that said "PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable PXE-M0F: Exiting intel boot agent" and would not go any further. I have restarted it multiple times and left it off for prolonged amount of time as well, and it has still continued with the error.
I have don't have much expierience with computers

That error seems to indicate that a cable might be loose (not plugged in properly) inside your computer. If that is not the problem, then you might want to try testing your harddrive for defects using a diagnostics tool.

Are you comfortable opening the system up to check the cables, or with burning CDs to create bootable disks that we can use to test your system? If not, you should probably take the computer in to get checked.

If you could just give me like.. step by step instructions that would be awesome. I can burn cd's if that's what will fix it. Whatever works!

Go to BIOS. Make sure, that the boot order reads: floppy, CD, HD
Disable Boot from Network (wording is different on every machine, may say Integrated NIC, Network, PXE-xxxxxxx)

How do I get to BIOS?

When you start computer, watch the bottom of black screen.
You'll see something like:

"some key" - Setup

Press the indicated key to access BIOS.

NEED HUGE HELP PLEASE

I was given a Toshiba laptop that would not start - when I entered the setup - got the message that there was no hard drive - so I purchased a new hard drive and installed (hopefully correct?) now I am getting the message "PXE E61 media test failure - check cable" I entered set up again - still no hard drive detect ed - suggestions?
