Hey guys,
Hope you can help. I'm sure this post has been discussed here before. I'm pretty computer non literate and was hoping some kind person could gice me a step by step guide to solving my problem.

Just booted up my system running xp professional and go the error message below

windows could not start because following file is missing or corrupt: windows root>\system32\hal.dll..

I don't have the xp cd, i've tried bootdisk.com and got confused... can anyone help???
