Hello the problem I have is that when I try to burn a DVD on my PC, the CPU overheat up to the PC shutdown (75-80ºC) and when I use more than the 50% of the processor, the computer shutdown and I have to wait 5 minutes to restart the PC.

The fans are working correctly; I have 3 (one from the power supply, one from the CPU and the other is an extra fan for the CPU).

What can I do? I will do all you suggest.

What are the idle temps of the system? Post the temps and voltage from the BIOS.

May be time to reapply thermal paste.

Hi makinu1der2 it is a custom build computer (a technical built the PC)

CPU: Amd Athlon 64 X2 5000+
RAM: DDR2 1GB
Disk: 320GB
Graphical card: GeForce 7300Gs
Operating System: Windows XP

How can I know the voltages?

The normal temps are 42-48ºC (Everest) but when I demand more than the 50% (like when I burn a DVD) the CPU heat up to the PC shutdown.

I bought the computer the last year, I thought that the problem could be the thermal paste but until know I do not reapply it.

I did all what you say. I tried with a can of compressed air and I reapply the thermal paste.
