Hi im having trouble connecting my router to my desktop i've tried fixing it myself and seem to know what the problem is after viewing the ipconfig im sure its something to do with the dhcp however I havn't got extensive knowledge of networking and can't understand why its not assigning a 192.168.x.x and its assigning a 169.254.x.x address instead. In the network and sharing center its saying its connected but it cant identify the network :S I know my router is ok because my xbox 360 and the laptop im typing on now are working fine also there are two other computers in the house that connect to the router. Also i recenty upgraded to windows 7 ultimate from windows vista ultimate but the problem was the same before the upgrade so i'm certain that it isn't the o/s

here are the details:

Router: BT Voyager 2110
O/S: Windows 7 Ultimate
ISP: BT
