One day i was on my computer and I had my daughters picture as my desktop background. the next day when i logged in it wasnt there. I tried looking up answers on other sites but run into nothing but deadends. When I go to personalize my background I can only change the color of it. I cant load any pictures or even the sample ones they have. PLEASE HELP

try this:

go to Control panel
then Ease of Access
then Ease of Access Center
then Make the computer easier to use
uncheck the option "Remove background images" if it is checked and hit apply

if this option is already unchecked then

check the option "Remove background images" and hit apply
now uncheck the option "Remove background images" and hit apply

see if you can use an image now.
