Need to re-install windows XP {fixed}

I was hit by a virus about a month ago and it really messed my system up, it has stopped me from using the Alt/Control/Delete function as well as changing my desktop wall paper. My system is super slow and wants to freeze up when I am doing anything. I tried to re-install windows and it did not delete the other copy. Now I have two operating systems, both windows XP Pro. how can I fix this? Please help
