Laptop Freezes Halfway Through Scan

I am the administrator of my laptop and there is one other account on there. Yesterday an alert came up of a virus from the other account. I tried to scan my laptop (a full scan) using Malware and Avira, but it keeps freezing halfway through. Same with panda (online). What do I do?
