Hello,

I am having trouble connecting to the internet. I have a HP computer which is running Windows XP. My ISP is AOL and I am running version 9.0. My problem started about a month and a half ago. I switched my phone carrier from Momentum Telecom to Bellsouth. The day I switch, I was unable to connect to the internet. When try to connect , I would get as far as step 4 which is requesting network attention and the connection would drop. I called AOL, they couldn't help me. I call the Bellsouth, they checked the line and said there was nothing wrong with the line. I don't think it has anything to do with the phone carrier since I can access the internet with my old computer.Today I purchased a new modem , Best Data 56K Mach 2, I installed the modem and the drivers and I'm still having the same problems. Since the new modem doesn't work, the problem has to be somewhere in my computer but I just don't know where. Are they any viruses out there that prevent dial up connections? I don't get any error codes the only message i get is unable to establish a connection. I just so frustated. :tazz: I've ran all the modem test and checked the connections. My modem passes the hardware part of the modem test, but will not establish a connection. Please ;) I don't know what to do. Any and all suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
