I do not wish to compact my emails in Outlook Express because I do not want to lose them.

Can anyone tell me how to stop the compact request box from popping up when I close OE

You can not stop the message from coming up.
If you read the following, it will explain what OE is actually trying to do. The word "compacting" is a misleading word.
