As long as it is the same version ie XP professional on the disc, and you have XP Professional on your computer you should be ok.

Hey Chamber got that fresh install from the SP3 CD everything worked out fine BUT!!! LOL I've never reformatted a computer and so I'm guessing I have to install all of my drivers and stuff again b/c it's not picking up my wireless card or any of that I'm guessing my friend refered a site to me it's a Driver download site so can I just download them put them on my external HD then apply them to the fresh system? Lastly guess what popped up and I wasn't even connected remotely to the internet VIRUT!!!!! what shall I do now???

So it was your antivirus then?

Did you do a full reformat or a repair install? Did you load any files back onto your system from a memory stick?

Hi,

The only way to get rid of this virus is to do a full reformat, wipe and reload windows.

Sorry I think that we cross posted there.

I would do another full reformat and download a fresh antivirus installer.

Here are three choices, I would go for Avira.
