Hi. I wanted to see if anyone could help me with my problem.

All of a sudden our computer became very bothered by spyware. It is Windows ME, and I have IE 6.

I downladed Spybot S&D and used it to remove several things from our computer.

Unfortunately, since doing this, Internet explorer no longer works. Many things are gotten rid of but we seem to still be infected by vX2, and the internet toolbar keeps getting hijacked to allaboutsearching.com whenever I try to open internet explorer.

Nothing ever loads (no page) or else it is VEEEEEEEERY slow. (And never loads)

The little numbers at the bottom of the page (I am not too technical. Are those IP numbers or something? Things similar to 123.45.6778, but that is made up) anyway, those numbers keep changing but the page just stays white, or at best an error message can't load page) comes up for any page entered.

I cannot download hijack this or that vx2 removal thing because of course, my ie won't connect to the internet.

Is there anything I can do? What can I do? I have Comcast as an ISP, in case that matters through a cable modem.

I hope all of this information helps, and there is something that I can do, or somehow I can solve this.

Someone from comcast tech support had me try to "fix"/reinstall internet explorer, but that didn't work. Microsoft only offers support for $35, so I would love it if someone could help me out. (Especially since I wonder if microsoft would help or not)

Thanks, ahead, for any and all help you can give me.

Download the latest version of Ad-Aware from here (if you already have Ad-Aware installed, make sure that it is the latest version and always go online and update it before you run it).

Download Lavasoft's VX2 Cleaner plug-in here
http://updates.ls-se...lvx2cleaner.exe

How to use Lavasoft's VX2 Cleaner plug-in

- Close Ad-Aware 6 build 181 and Ad-Watch (if running)
- Download the free VX2 Cleaner at http://updates.ls-se...lvx2cleaner.exe
- Install the VX2 Cleaner
- Start Ad-Aware 6 build 181
- Go to "Plug-ins"
- Select the VX2 Cleaner plug-in and click "Run Plugin"
- If your computer isn't infected, click "Close".

If your computer is infected

- Select "Clean system"
- Reboot your computer
- Scan your computer with Ad-Aware
- Remove any VX2 objects detected
- Reboot your computer again
- Run a second scan to make sure the files have been removed from your computer

Reboot your PC.

If you would please, scan with HijackThis and post a log, and let us know how your system's working. :D
