I am using Windows Vista on a laptop and have an external hard drive that I backup to. The hard drive is still showing nearly full, but the folder containing the majority of the data (music) is missing and I can't access the data.

Is it possible to reindex the hard drive and recreate the folder and subfolder containing this data?

The original folder has been changed to a generic text file with no attributes.
