Not to sure if this is the section to ask but I'll try here. I have a laptop that gets the blue screen after the windows logo and I'm just going to format and reinstall windows. My question is how can I connect another computer to this one and grab all the files off of it before I format? I was thinking about using linux to grab the files I need off that partition but is there an easier way?

Thanks!

Using a linux live cd (something like ubuntu) will allow you to mount the hdd and save the data you need.

Or yo can install the drive in and external enclosure and attach to another system to try and retrieve the files.
