here is a server config file named dedicated.cfg So, if you want to use it fill it in then save it. After that place it in cod/main. Then you need to have a shortcut for call of duty on your desktop. Right click on that shortcut and goto properties. Look in the target line and add this. +exec dedicated.cfg after the ". Make shure you have one space between the " and +exec. Then your set to open up your own server.

Hey bro. Can you help me out with a server .cfg for cod2. I cant seem to make it work for me. I just want to have maps rotate. Thanks

If you dont have a router it is suppost to be so simple. I have posted all the info in this forum but I will say it again.

Dedicated has to be set to internet for people to see your server on the list.

If it still doesnt work after that, turn pure server and it should work.

Check your firewalls

Make shure if you have a internet shield that you allow the game cod to pass through.


All you do is setup a server then make shure its set to dedicated internet, click to start the server and it will minimize to the desktop which is normal and then you are ready to go. After this in the console it will say hitch warning, totally normal iv had many people ask me what does that mean... Anyway after the console gets minimized to the desktop, keep in minimized then go back into call of duty and then find your server on internet or local/lan. If it shows up on internet that means that anyone can join it.

I think the problem is your ip. The ip you said you have 10.0.0.1 is not normal at all for an internet service provider to give you. You said you didnt have a router, are you shure??


I dont know what else to tell you.

You did everything right if you dont have a router like you said.


If your copy of the game isnt a legal copy and a real cd key that could be the problem also, anyway we dont talk about that here at geekstogo.com just to let you know.

Try opening a server with punkbuster off, just to see.

If you dont have a router and only on a cable or dsl modem your server ip should be 217.22.178.130 with the games port number at the end. 28960


Server has to have your ip 217.22.178.130 for it to work if you dont have any type of router.

k, well basicallyi can get my server to show up so tht everyone can acces it(cod 1.1)
however when trying to go on it it comes up with pak sum/name mismatch
i can t figure out how 2 fix it

I know the reason. If you update/ patch your call of duty version it should fix the problem.

Call of duty 1.5 patch says this.

Fixed an issue where too many custom pak files (maps or mods) would cause the "Pak Sum / Name Mismatch" error. (Also affects Single Player)

Alright- im going to start my own buisness- its gonna be a LAN party place- I dont know wat router to use but I know im gonna have a problme with allowing SOME server to go online and some not 2(im gonna have my clan servers go online to avertise the lan party) I dont know wat linux im going to be using tho
has anyone been able to SUCSEFFULY make a call of duty(1 and 2) server go online wen on a router? if so wat router did u use?
