The game you listed is call of duty 2. This topic is for regular call of duty and call of duty united offensive.


Looks like the dedicated.cfg might be set up wrong that you use. Its pretty much the same games but I know some of the console commands did change from regular call of duty to cod2.

It can be that and or a mod that you downloaded from another internet server interfering with opening your own server.

I dont think your doing it right at all. All in this topic it says how to do everything possible if you read it all. ITS MEANT FOR REGULAR CALL OF DUTY NOT CALL OF DUTY 2.


Sounds like your opening the server but blindfire123, after you goto start server it opens up a console to the desktop. This is perfectly normal. You said you its been doing this before you even did anything to it.

After it opens the console to the desktop, minimize it. Now go back into the game once again and find your server that you opened on internet or lan whichever you set dedicated to.

Thats it.

You might want to download a dedicated server config file from a website for call of duty 2.

search on google for cod2 server.cfg

it will list many different ways to get a server config file. It might make it easier when you open servers, if you do it alot.

Everything is listed in this huge forum, you just need to read through it all. It lists how to do everything possible. Its hard for me to answer the same question every time when its all there if you read.



Check and enable dmz host in your routers config page.

make shure the server is set to dedicated internet.

When you open the server, you goto start server it will then goto the desktop and open a console for the game this is normal, after that just minimize that console and then go back into the game once more and find your server on the list. **(This is what alot of people messes up on)**


set the dmz to the right numbers.

Example if the ip your router gave your pc is 192.168.1.1 in dmz you would just add .100
So if it was 192.168.1.1 the dmz should say 192.168.1.100 all your doing is adding two zeros... When I had a router hooked up it worked every single time. I dont use a router anymore.

Dmz is a setting in your routers config page that enables your lan ip address to be seen by the internet users....

alright- i read this forum over and over and i cant get it! now im thinking of just spending a lot of monney and renting a server like everyone else- all i can do is set up a LAN plz i really want to have at least a 4 private servcr at home so i can train up some of my clan members- plz can u give me step by step instructions 1 more time for a server that will go online- i have a netgear router- if that helps- and im 1.3 so i would make dmz 1.300 right? well that doesnt work
