I recently found out that I have an unregistered copy of Office and am trying to remove it from my laptop. When i tried to uninstall it, it said I had a file missing or corrupted [though it wouldn't tell me which file it was].
Stupidly I tried to dload a trial version of Office to see if it would give me the missing file, but now I can't get rid of the original version OR the trial version...

I'd like to get them both off my system please...

Download and install Revo Uninstaller

• Double click the Revo Uninstaller icon on your desktop to start the program
• Scroll through the listed programs and Right Click on the program you wish to uninstall
• From the pop out menu choose Uninstall
• Click Yes to the confirmation dialogue
• In the next window select the Advanced mode
• Click Next to start uninstalling the program
• Answer Yes to confirm the uninstall
• When the program has completed the four steps, click Next to allow the program to search for leftovers
• Once complete, click Next, then Finish
• Repeat the above steps for any other programs you wish to remove.

K.. I tried that... and it said it uninstalled and all that...
Yet when I open say a word doc or spreadsheet, it still loads Office??

Loads office or attempts to load it Office Word?
Can you take a screenshot of it and attach it to your next reply?
What are you using as a spreadsheet program?

To do a screenshot please have click on your Print Screen on your keyboard. It is normally the key above your number pad between the F12 key and the Scroll Lock key
Now go to Start and then to All Programs
Scroll to Accessories and then click on Paint
In the Empty White Area click and hold the CTRL key and then click the V
Go to the File option at the top and click on Save as
Save as file type JPEG and save it to your Desktop

No it loads the program... If it's a doc then it loads word, if it's a spreadsheet it loads excel.
I am trying to use Open Office for these things now.... but it still loads everything with the corresponding Office program.

If I go into Ctrl Panel to uninstall a program this is what is left in there.. but when I click on it, there is no option to uninstall... and it looks like the powerpoint icon beside it, instead of the office icon??

Try booting to Safe Mode and rerun Revo
After running Revo then go to Add\Remove Programs and see if the program still exists.
If so then try uninstalling there.
When done boot back to windows normally. You may have to right click on a word doc and associate it with open office.
Same with spreadsheet.

I went into safe mode and tried to re-run Revo. Office doesn't show up in the list of programs?
I also went back into Ctrl Panel and the entry is still there.

I don't get how Office is still operating and opening files???
Is there a log I can run to show you or something?

I also now have Windows update asking me to install 15 Office updates.. So the program has to be still installed somehow?

Try going to Microsoft Support and running the Eraser2k.exe program.
Let me know if this works.

I have Office 2007. Does that matter?
It doesn't seem to be running. It keeps going into Not Responding.
Would it be easier if I gave you access like in logmein??? LOL!!!!

We don't do remote access.
This is part of the learning process.
Go HERE and follow the instructions.

Hahaha.. I'm glad you said that.. It's always better to learn on your own, than to have someone do it for you.
I actually found that site before I saw it in your message.. and I followed it step by step.
I think it worked... Everything has started well and is now starting through Open Office.
