Hello,
I am having trouble with , I believe, a virus. About 3 months ago I started having files go missing, such as games and ms paint. So I tried to do a windows repair, and it acted like everything was loading and installing correctly, until it got to the very end.
At that point it kept telling me that certain files,(about 50), could not be loaded- to place the sp2 disc in, but the disc was already in, and it still would not load these files. So, I had to cancel the attempted load of these files.
So, needless to say, the repair didn't work- any ideas?

Thank you,

mikess

Yes, it boots up fine, but everyday it seems something else is corrupt or missing, such as internet explorer- when you type an address in the bar it won't goto it, but if you do a google search and then hit the link, it will.
It just does things that are not normal.

I suggest you go to the Malware Removal and Spyware Removal Forum and run all the steps located in the START HERE. These self-help tools will help you clean up 70% of problems on your own. If you are still having problems after doing the steps, then please post the reguested logs in THAT forum. If you are unable to run any of the tools then start a new topic in the malware forum and put this in the subject line...I am unable to run any malware tools

If you are still having problems after being given a clean bill of health from the malware expert, then please return to THIS thread and we will pursue other options to help you solve your current problem(s).
