Can't open links in e-mail

I am using Outlook Express 6 for my e-mails, running XP home. Just recently noticed I can't open on any links embedded in my mail. Usually no error message (just nothing happening) but occasionally get runtime error R 2065. I had this happen once before and was able to correct it after talking to Microsoft support, Now they won't talk to me unless I pay them.
