I have A Dell Inspiron 6000 with added memory and using cable high speed internet. My internet on this laptop runs very slow and loads sites like dial up. I've been told my hard drive may be full, but my computer shows plenty of disk space available. What can I do to find out if there are programs running I don't use or need? (Is that really the problem?) I run Trend Micro Internet Security and Windows Defender. I've run malware and spyware scans with no result.

you can't run 2 anti virus programs (Trend Micro Internet Security and Windows Defender) or 2 firewalls...they will fight...remove one of them ...I recommend you keep Trend Micro...reboot
then go here ...check your speed on at least 3 servers...post your results..
